The Sacramento River Discovery Center gardens comprise 2 acres of California native plants and pathways along the Sacramento River. Our design is meant to showcase the best of what our local plants have to offer: simple beauty and low water requirements. Native plants save water, require lower maintenance, are more resistant to pests, encourage local wildlife and help restore the natural ecological balance. We want to demonstrate ways to care for your yards which would require less watering and dependence on commercial pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
Our locally grown plants are available for purchase Tuesday through Saturday, directly from our Center.
The demonstration gardens are open to the public 7 days a week, and it is our hope that your trip through our garden paths will inspire you!
